About The Ordinary Retinol 0.2% in Squalane
Retinol is one of the most studied skincare ingredients for the look of fine lines and uneven texture. This 0.2% strength is the lowest in The Ordinary’s retinol range, which makes it a sensible place to start.
The squalane base helps keep skin comfortable. Once your skin is used to it after a few months, you can move up to Retinol 0.5%.

Who it suits
Most skin types that are new to retinol. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How to use
- Use in the evening only, on clean, dry skin.
- Apply a few drops to the face, avoiding the eyes and lips.
- Start 2–3 nights a week, then increase slowly if your skin is comfortable.
- Wear sunscreen every morning.
Good to know: Some dryness, flaking or mild tingling in the first weeks is common. Do not use on the same night as acids, vitamin C or copper peptides.

I have used the Ordinary Retinoil 0.2% in squalene since december 2020. I had large spot marks from acne and it helped fade the scars and together with getting rid of hyperpigmentation. Although it took time to notice the results about 4months but it is gentle and would recommend it to anyone suffering from acne scars and hyperpigmentation. I personally don’t use it with any other product, and I use it only in the night.
